Please contact Fergus McGee if you are interested in taking part in the Rith charity run on Thursday (tomorrow) week (March 8th). We are looking for members in club colours to carry the baton as it makes its way into Letterkenny from Illistrin. It will arrive there around 4pm.
Well done to all our winners from Friday night’s Presentation night in the Old Orchard Inn. Pride of place goes to our latest Hall of Fame winner, the great Conn Halpin. Conn was a member of the 1st ever St. Eunan’s team to win the Co. title in 1948 when he lined out at corner back. He was also a goalkeeper of great distinction, lining out between the sticks in Donegal’s first ever game in Croke Park, the National League semi-final against Cork in 1952. Conn won 2 League medals in 1952 and 1954 before adding another Senior Championship medal in 1956. Alas, Conn emigrated to London in 1957 at just 26 years of age and the Black & Amber was deprived of a true legend. The full list of winners was: Appreciation Award – Adrian Shiels; Hurling Appreciation Award – Joanne Organ; Minor Hurling Player of the Year – Conor McVeigh; Minor Footballer of the Year – Mark Forde; Ladies Young Player of the Year – Lauren O’Connell & Kaneshia McKinney; Young Hurler of the Year – Kevin Meehan; Young Footballer of the Year – Lee McMonagle; Cultural Award – Emer McGeehin; Junior Player of the Year – Dwyer Rafferty; Senior Reserve Player of the Year – Brian “Barney” McDermott; Senior Ladies Player of the Year – Bernie Cunningham; Senior Footballer of the Year – Mick Martin; Club Person of the Year Charlie Harvey & Anne Forde; Hall of Fame – Conn Halpin. Thank you to the Management and Staff of the Orchard Inn that served up a first class meal.
Comhghairdeas le Seán Óg Ó Feannaidh a bhain craobh na contae i gcomórtas amhránaíocht aonair de scór sinsir i nGleann t-Súilí ag an deireadh seachtaine. Seán Feeney gave a tremendous performance to win the county final of Scór Sinisir in the solo singing category and we wish him success when he represents club and county in the Ulster semi final in Glenswilly on the 9thMarch where he will be up against the county champions in solo singing from Tyrone and Fermanagh. The St. Eunans ballad group and the instrumental group also took part in the county final in Glenswilly at the weekend and they both gave top class performances but unfortunately did not qualify for the Ulster semi final. Míle buíochas to all who represented the club this year in Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir and it is encouraging that CLG Naomh Adhamhnáin are continuing to be highly proactive in the promotion of cultural activities. Seo páirt tabhachta do’n Chumann Lúthchleas Gaeil.
