Michael Naughton confirmed that he has written a letter of complaint to the National Ladies Committee of the GAA at Croke Park over the refereeing of both the Laois game and the clash against Kildare the previous week.
McLaughlin is one of the country’s top players.
But she ended up in hospital after the weekend match because of injuries sustained in the Laois match.
“Geraldine did not get the protection of the referee in either game in my opinion,” said Naughton.
He confirmed that county secretary Deirdre Dillon was lodging a formal complaint with Croke Park.
McLaughlin’s pelvic injury will see her sidelined for at least a month – and possibly up to six weeks.
