A Gaoth Dobhair woman is hoping to fly the flag for Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Maria McCool and her band Celtic Whisper is one of five acts who will appear on the Late Late Show on RTE next week, February 24th.
But Maria, a school teacher now based in Co Meath, will have some stiff competition in both Jedward and former entrant Donna McCaul.
This year’s five acts have each been given a mentor and Maria’s mentor is former B*Witched star Edele Barrett who has also written her son ‘Mistaken.’
Maria is a vastly experienced singer and has even released two albums of her own.
Maria will be first to sing next Friday and will represent Ireland at the first semi-final in Baku in the summer.
