Brendan Alexander from Donegal Skies is hoping for clear skies over the next few nights.
“The possible arrival of a coronal mass ejection (CME) produced on the 10th February may spark aurora displays at mid-latitudes (Ireland and Northern parts of UK),” said Brendan.
“Forecasters predict a 20% chance of minor geomagnetic storms, which may cause aurora over Irish and northern UK latitudes, when the CME is expected to arrive on this evening or and tomorrow night 14th of February.”
Met Eireann reports that there is more likely to be a break in the cloud over Co Donegal tonight than tomorrow night, giving viewing conditions for those who want to see the lights.
However people going out to see the Northern Lights should be aware the chances remain at 20%.
