The only thing statistics Neil Lennon was interested in were the three points – and the four goals his side notched up here at Tynecastle.
But it was win number 16 on the trot; a feat last achieved in the glory days under O’Neill.
And the game could have started so differently when Stephen Elliott’s early header appeared to cross the line (on TV replays it did anyway).
From the clearance Celtic went up to the other end and after some fine work by the brilliant James Forrest, player of the month Scott Brown bagged his third goal in as many games..
Joe Ledley’s close-range header followed Victor Wanyama’s 12-yard shot to put Celtic three up at the break.
And, with 30 minutes remaining, Gary Hooper pounced on Wanyama’s header to fire in the fourth goal from close range.
It was another solid all round performance – one which Neil Lennon put down to the hard work of his players, but one which they put down to the faith of their manager.
Lennon said it had been a great performance at a difficult venue (he was attacked here last year in case you forgot) as they kept their dreams of a treble winning season on track.
“I thought we were devastating tonight. That’s as good as we’ve played here, even in my time as a player and a coach,” said the Co Armagh man.
“They looked in the mood and the team as a whole were fantastic. I thought apart from the first minute, when I believe we got a break, we looked unstoppable at times.”
