Training continues Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm but note this Friday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at Carrickfinn playing field.
5k series during February and March has been confirmed. The proposed dates for the three race series are February 5th at 11am, February 26th at 11am and March 16th at 6:30pm. This will provide the participants the opportunity to get out and train (run/jog/walk) in the knowledge that there is organized upcoming events that they can take advantage of being monitored in an organised event over the same course. This could be used by individuals as well as teams as a gauge of fitness pre season.
Two athletes from the club ran in the Primary School cross country races that were part of the Antrim International cross country event recently. Saskia Boyle representing her school Keadue National School had a fine run to finish 4th in the race and her club mate Maedhbh Nic Giolla Bhríde from Scoil Mhuire, Doirebeaga finished behind her in 5th place. Ten athletes from the club were selected on the Donegal Sportshall athletics team for the West Ulster finals in Enniskillen. Nicole Boyle, Ailbhe O Donnell, Sarah Doherty and Anna Sweeney are on the Girls U-13 team. Caroline Sharkey, Jade O Donnell and Aideen Meehan are on the U-15 Girls team again. Joseph Gallagher, Darragh Mc Glynn and David Mc Carron are on the U-15 Boys team. This weekend three athletes from the club are heading to Dublin for the Juvenile Inter County Cross Country Relays. Ailbhe O Donnel and Saskia Boyle are on the Donegal U-12 team and Sarah Doherty is on the Donegal U-14 team. Rosses AC are organising a Sportshall Athletics event for primary schools from the north west on Wednesday 23rd in Ionad Spóirt na Rosann, Dungloe. 3rd and 4th classes will be catered for and the events will include 1 lap race, speed bounce, standing long jump, javelin throw, ball throw and relay.
Following a number of festive season runs/walks and coming into the new year with a strong desire to be healthier, get fitter, lose weight and improve lifestyle a little, Rosses AC have decided to put a three series race/jog/walk in place. The first race will take place this Sunday February 5th at 11am at the Banks, Mullaghduff (Naomh Mhuire Clubhouse). Registrations open at 10am. 5 euro for adults and 2 euro for u-16s with all proceeds to Rosses AC. All welcome.
