Drive In
The Captain’s D P Logue & Noreen Mc Conigley will hold the traditional drive in on Sunday 5th February. The event will be a team competition with a shotgun start at 10.30 a.m sharp All names must be entered by 6 p.m on Saturday 4th February to enable the draw for teams and tees to be made. No names will be taken on the morning of the drive in. As in previous years the Captain D P Logue extends an invitation to the members of Otway Golf Club to play in the drive in event. If on the morning of the drive in you are unable to attend please notify the clubhouse on 074 9159459 before 10 a.m.
Portsalon Winter Links
The next outing of the Portsalon Winter Links takes place on Saturday 28th January. All members of the Winter Links are reminded that their tee times remain as the previous outing and if you are unable to play please contact the clubhouse
Results
The winner of the Saturday open competition was Tony Kingston playing off a 13 handicap, Tony mastered the tricky stormy weather conditions and recorded 35 points to win from runner up Paddy Sheridan (8) 34 points Gross Eamon Mc Dermott (3) 27 points 3rd Danny Bannigan B/S (15) 34 points. The CSS was 34 points reduction only. On Sunday the winner of the members competition was six handicapper Kevin Mc Gonagle with 38 points, runner up Eamon Mc Conigley (7) 36 points Gross Seamus Patton (55) 30 points. The CSS was 36 points.
Events
On Saturday 28th the Portsalon Winter Links and on Sunday 29th a members competition and on Wednesday 1st February an open 18 hole stableford event. On Saturday 4th The first tee is reserved for the North West Alliance. Sunday 5th the Captains drive in, Wednesday 8th a gents open competition, Saturday 11th an 18 hole gents open and Sunday 12th a members competition. Gaeltacht League
After some matches were called off it is now back to business for Donal Callaghan and his Gaeltacht League team. Over the next few weeks Portsalon will travel to Cloughaneeley on Saturday 11th February, on Saturday 18th February home to Rosapenna and Saturday 3rd March away to Cruit Island . The remaining match against Dunafanghy has yet to be confirmed. Following the two opening matches Portsalon have 35 points from 40 points.
Change to Drop Off arrangements
Members and visitors should note that you must drop off the fairways 2,7 and 9 at the nearest point of relief as this has now been designated ground under repair. Under a local rule all golf balls in the areas identified must be lifted and dropped without penalty. It is no longer permitted to use the putter inside the areas identified.
All members are kindly asked to keep all pull trolleys, electric trolleys and drive buggies outside the lines surrounding the putting greens. This is try to protect the main playing surfaces as much as possible over the next few weeks..
Placing
All members and visitors should note that six inch placing on all fairways only is in operation at Portsalon Golf Club.

Divot Bags
Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
