The warning will stay in place until 6am.
Steady west to southwest winds will reach 50km/h with gusts of up to 90km/h.
However the winds will die down later in the day as temperatures begin to drop, bringing an end to the long spell of relatively mild weather.
Drier brighter conditions will extend to all parts on later this Thursday morning with sunny spells developing. Afternoon highs of just 6 to 8 Celsius. Moderate, locally fresh, northwesterly winds will decrease to light.
Then we are in for several nights of sharp frosts in Co Donegal, starting tonight Thursday, through until Sunday. Daytime temperatures will struggle to just 4C or 5C, with nighttime temperatures of as low as -4C.
