The Irish Cancer Society has sent out an SOS for volunteer drivers from Co Donegal to take patients from the county to hospitals in Galway and Dublin for treatment.
The Care To Drive service is being run in conjunction with Letterkenny General Hospital.
The service is free to both the hospital and the patient and the Irish Cancer Society pays a contribution towards the fuel costs of the driver as well as €8 for tea and a sandwich.
The ICS says there are a number of reasons why patients need the service including the fact that they simply have nobody to take them for their treatment.
