A heartbroken father has vowed to spend Christmas Day searching for his son.
Devastated Joseph Colhoun from Lifford has been looking for his missing son David since the 21 year old went missing on May 22nd last.
Tragic David is believed to have swum across the River Foyle to get to his home after fleeing police custody in Co Tyrone when he was arrested for being drunk.
Despite months of search involving hundreds of volunteers and search teams, no trace of David has yet been found.
Heartbroken Joseph has revealed he could just not bring himself to get into the festive spirit or even put up as Christmas tree at his home.
“There will be no Christmas in our house unfortunately. That’s just how it is.
“How can we celebrate Christmas knowing David is at the bottom of the river somewhere. We just can’t.
“I will fill my boat with petrol and I will go out in the boat on Christ Day on the river to look for David again. That’s all I can do for him now,” he said.
Joseph revealed it will be almost a year since he buried his wife Josephine last January.
“That will make it even harder knowing I have lost both of them.
“If I can just get David back, or with is left of him, then I can bury him alongside his mother and I will be at peace.
“That’s my Christmas and New Year wish rolled into one. That’s all I’m wishing for,” he said.
