AA IRELAND has issued an urgent black ice alert for many roads in Co Donegal this evening.
A warmer front predicted yesterday by Met Eireann hasn’t arrived yet, meaning that roads tonight are very dangerous again.
County council gritters have been out on the main roads but grit has been washed away by showers in many areas, and there is no gritting of secondary routes.
AA Ireland said many roads around Letterkenny are hazardous and the main Donegal/Sligo N15 at Laghey is “treacherous.”
We are also getting emails from readers telling us of slippy conditions on the main N13 between Letterkenny and Derry, on the Letterkenny to Lifford road, on the back of Errigal road between Termon and Dunlewey, all secondary roads around Fintown and Glenties, the Carndonagh to Moville Road, the road between Ramelton and Milford and on to Carrigart.
The roads around Convoy, Donegal Town, Ballyshannon and St Johnston are also hazardous.
And there are also reports of fog in some inland areas.
