A community has come together to raise funds for the family of a woman who died just two weeks after giving birth to her third child.
Tragic Melissa Hamilton was just 34 when she sadly passed away in September at Letterkenny General Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.
Her untimely passing was all the more devastating for her family and friends as it came just days after she gave birth to her third daughter, Grace.
Now the local community has come together to support Melissa’s husband Seamus and daughters Jessica, Darcy and Grace.
A fund-raising dance in aid of the Melissa Hamilton (nee Connolly) Appeal will be held in Ballybofey after Christmas.
Originally from Curragh, Killygordon, Melissa was a popular member of the local community an a devoted mum to her daughters.
Hundreds attended the wake at Melissa and Seamus’s home in Sallywood, and the funeral at St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, was one of the biggest the parish has seen in many years.
The fundraising dance will take place in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey, on Thursday, December 29.
Music will be provided by The Kavanagh Brothers and doors will open at 10 pm.
Tickets are priced at just €10 and can be purchased from the Villa Rose or any appeal fund member.
Patrons can also pay at the door on the night.
