Gardai have also issued an appeal for information after the 22-year-old victim was hit by a jeep on the Old Letterkenny Road, three-quarters of a mile outside Convoy.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses after a man was hurt in a hit-and-run outside Convoy.
“The driver of the jeep failed to stop and drove off in the Letterkenny direction,” said a Garda spokesman.
The incident happened at around 8pm on Friday night.
A brother of the victim said: “He was about half a mile outside the speed limit where there is a bad bend with a slip road.
“My brother was driving in the direction of Convoy from Letterkenny when he was smashed into by this jeep. My brother’s car was badly damaged and the car was swung around in the middle of the road but the jeep just sped off leaving him there. The jeep is dark coloured and it must be damaged.
“My brother has suffered neck injuries. He has been released from hospital but we cannot believe that someone would just drive off like that.
“I would appeal to anyone who knows of a jeep which is damaged to please contact Gardai immediately. We need to get this boy caught.”
Gardai are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
