Daniel O’Donnell celebrated his 50th birthday early last night when he appeared on the Late Late Show.
The singer was lauded by family and friends as he prepares to mark his milestone birthday on Monday next.
The Kincasslagh man talked about everything of losing his father when he was just six to his desire to get a wig if he ever went bald!
Daniel also spoke of his two great ambitions in the coming year when he plans to move down a gear and take life a little easier.
“I’m going to do a course in Irish. I can speak a bit although not well even though I come from the Gaeltactht. I’m not saying I’m oing to say I’m going to be fluent but it will be Donegal Irish – sure that’s the only Irish. I also want to lean Sean-Nos dancing in Glencolmcille,” he revealed.
Daniel also spoke of his life-long desire to have a walk-in part on his favourite soap opera Coronation Street.
“I would sweep the streets or just hang about. I would just love a cameo,” he said.
Daniel was joined on the Late Late Show by his sister Margo and wife Majella.
His mum Julia could not make it but Daniel made sure he wished her well back home in Donegal.
Cliff Richard sent Daniel good luck messages as did Eamon Holmes and Gloria Hunniford.
Ryan Tubridy complimented Daniel on his youthful looks and asked what would he do if ever he lost his hair.
“I’m glad to have hair. In the event of not having it I would have the biggest carpet on my head,” he admitted honestly.
On the eve of his big birthday Daniel said he wants for nothing and doesn’t want presents from family and friends.
“I’m just happy to be here with everyone – that presents enough,” he said.
