THERE were long tailbacks on many roads in Co Donegal this morning as overnight hail and snow froze over to leave roads treacherous.
At one stage traffic was tailed back from Pramerica in Letterkenny to past Dunnes of Illistrin.
And snow fell close to Mount Errigal, adding half an hour to journeys between Gaoth Dobhair and Letterkenny.
Pictured is the road outside Falcarragh at 9am. The donegaldaily reader who sent it to us said: “If the roads are this bad after a wee bit of snow, what’s it going to be like when we get some real stuff.”
And a Gaoth Dobhair commuter fumed: “Once again the back road was a complete joke. I know there’s no money left in the country, but this is costing money. I was an hour late for work.”
There were also accumulations of snow over Barnesmore Gap but apart from slush on the roads, the main roads around Bundoran, Ballyshannon and Donegal Town were relatively clear.
There was snow in Kilcar and Killybegs.
