UPDATED: THEY say ‘it could be you’ – and last night it was for Kathleen McLaughlin in Moville, Co Donegal.
For the lucky lottery player from Redcastle has scooped an incredible €2.6M on the Saturday lotto jackpot.
Or €2,642,046 to be exact – not a bad wee Christmas box for Kathleen and her family!
The National Lottery isn’t saying just yet who Ireland’s newest millionaire is, but the tongues are already wagging all over the Inishowen peninsula as speculation grows over the identity of the winner.
Kathleen’s winning numbers were 4,12,14,16,21 and 34! The €4 Quick Pick ticket was bought by a man from Redcastle in Farrens’ Ice Cream Company Ltd, Main St, Moville.
Earlier shopkeeper Denis Foynes said: “We are over the moon. I was told by the Lottery last night and the winner wants to stay anonymous at this stage and we have to respect that.
“There’s a lot of speculation as to who did win – and I’ve heard about ten different names. One thing is for sure, the winner is a local.”
Meanwhile one customer told us: “It certainly wasn’t me.
“There’s a few names being bandied about all right this morning but it would be unfair to say just who it is.”
Another local woman had told donegaldaily.com: “I think everyone is just delighted that someone local has won. In these times, it’s great for someone to get that sort of money.”
