Foecaster Gerard Fleming said most snow will be confined to higher ground. However he predicted that in Donegal we would “see some accumulations of snow in lower areas.”
The prediction follows similar forecasts by the BBC in the North and by Sky News.
Met Eireann have a gale weather warning issued predicting high winds and prolonged showers of hail, sleet and snow for today.
TONIGHT’S WEATHER: Cold and windy tonight. Showers will continue, mainly over Ulster, Connacht and west Munster, but some will extend further east. They’ll be wintry on high ground, falling as sleet or snow, especially in north Connacht and Ulster where some snow flurries are possible at lower levels also. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 4 degrees with fresh to strong west to northwest winds. Frost and icy patches possible in areas sheltered from the wind.
