A Donegal hotel has been forced to issue an apology after it claimed the famous Coca Cola Christmas lorry was transporting Santa to his magic kingdom!
The Inishowen Gateway Hotel had issued flyers claiming Santa was arriving on the famous red and white truck tomorrow at 6pm.
The truck has featured in the famous soft drink’s TV commercials for many years.
But the hotel has been forced into a climb-down to say an open-sided truck will be taking Santa to his kingdom instead.
The hotel has since been swamped with messages of disappointment by many people on its Facebook page.
A number of people have said their children are very disappointed with some accusing the hotel of false advertising.
However a spokesman for the hotel said they were sold the idea as a package by a third party and had no control over the truck.
“We have been hammered over this and it is not our fault at all. We were sold this idea by a man who promised us he could get the Coca Cola lorry.
“We went away and did up flyers for it and we have received a great reaction.
“But then we were told at the last minute that he could not get the truck. We are just as annoyed,” he said.
The hotel promised parents that they would still be arranging a great night for all children who arrived.
“We still have a truck and Sanata and Mrs Claus and some Disney characters will be here.
“Children can get their picture taken with Santa and they will get a present. We’re going to try and make it an extra special night because of the mix-up over the Coca Cola truck,” he added.
