MET Eireann and the AA Ireland have issued alerts for Co Donegal tonight and tomorrow morning, Thursday.
Winds of 115 km/hr will hit the county later with a risk of flooding from heavy downpours.
And that will leave many roads in a treacherous condition in the morning as the winds reduce and clearer skies overnight turns wet surfaces into ice.
A Met Eireann spokesman said: “The rain will be heavy at times, especially in the west with a risk of flooding. Strong to gale-force southerly winds will gust to 115 km per hour in exposed areas in the west and north.”
Sky weather is still predicting that more wet weather due over west Donegal tomorrow will turn to snow, especially on higher ground, in the afternoon/evening.
