Management at Letterkenny General Hospital are urging people to avoid the Emergency Department if at all possible today due to overcrowding.

Outpatient clinics have also been cancelled as a result of the overcrowding with several patients on trolleys.

Mr Couse’s surgical clinic has been cancelled although orthopedic clinics will go ahead today.

It’s just the latest crisis at the hospital which some staff say hasn’t enough people to cope.

And further cuts to the hospital budget are expected next week.
