A Rosses lady was selected the best dressed among 2,000 guests at a mega charity gig in Dubai on Friday night, writes Eoin McGarvey.
Andrea Byrne-Gul, 32, a daughter of Dee and Noreen Byrne of Bunaman, Annagry beat all the style and glamour at the $450 a head charity event at the spectacular Meydan Racecourse in Dubai to receive the title of Best Dressed Woman.
The 9th Oil Barron’s Charity Ball is Dubai’s energy industry’s event of the year and had a record attendance of 2,000 guest this year. The red carpet event attracts the crème da le crème of industry leaders in the oil and gas industry and is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed, President, Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group.
Guests were treated to exquisite food, fantastic live music and entertainment and the evening also featured the crowning of the 9th Oil Baron.
The Friends of Cancer Patients charity fundraiser also presented an award for the best dressed couple.
The theme of this year’s event was ‘Everybody Needs Somebody’ and entertainment was by the Blues Brothers tribute show featuring Aretha Franklin and James Brown.
Former Emirate Airlines air hostess Andrea has been living and working in Dubai for nine years now and married her husband Nome Gul, a native of Manchester, there two years ago.
She has also worked with the Fashion Island group and had to take care of the top fashion designers in the world when they arrived in Dubai including Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield and Donna Karan who owns DKNY.
Her mum Noreen said that they are delighted for her.
“She sent us a text message from the event to say she had just been presented with the award for best dressed lady. She was really excited and we are all delighted for her,” she said.
