DDVT VIDEO…STORY FROM NEIL DOHERTY IN GLASGOW: CELTIC’S Anthony Stokes scored twice at the home of bogey side Inverness to close the gap on sad Rangers who could only draw at home against St Johnston.
The home side had Greg Tansey rightly ordered off for leading with forearm smash in an aerial challenge with Samaras nine minutes before the interval.
With an hour gone, Stokes finished off a neat passing move involving James Forrest and Gary Hooper.
And the striker volleyed in from an acute angle to wrap up the points with his 11th goal of the season.
Celtic move to within ten points of Rangers, who could only muster a scoreless draw with St Johnstone later, while the defeat leaves Inverness bottom of the table.
Their manager – Ranger diehard Terry Butcher – whinged and whined about the sending off but it was totally deserved and the amateur dramatics from Butcher was laughable.
And even more so when Andrew Shinnie flew into a reckless challenge on Celtic replacement Pat McCourt. It was one of the most outrageous challenges in the league this season and deserved another straight red but ref O’Reilly was lenient on this occasion, choosing to pick yellow.
Let’s all hope that this is reviewed and Shinnie gets a lengthy ban – in the court of public opinion at least.
The Hoops are still ten points behind – with a game in hand.
