The two students at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town have been selected to train for the Irish Maths Olympiad team.
Jessica Weitbreach and Pauric Doherty were selected based on their outstanding Maths results in the Junior Certificate Examination.
The two students have been invited to attend enrichment classes in colleges such as University College Dublin, NUI Galway and NUI Maynooth.
Their class teacher, Ms Rosemary Quinn was delighted with the news and complimented the two students on their outstanding achievement.
And Principal, Emmanuel McCormack beamed: “I am delighted for the students and their families and I want to pay tribute to their maths teacher, Rosemary Quinn and the entire Maths department at the Abbey Vocational School.
“It really is great news for all of them and all of us.”
The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is a prestigious annual team competition for mathematically talented second-level students representing their countries.
