Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray has accused Senator Jimmy Harte of demonstrating ‘extreme laziness’ in researching politics while pursuing his anti-Sinn Féin agenda.
Cllr Murray hit back at the Labour man in the row over the A5 road improvement which has been mothballed due to the lack of cash.
“I read with extreme bemusement, Senator Harte’s attack on Sinn Féin’s commitment to the A5 project in the Stormont Executive. Does he have any idea what’s going on?” asked Cllr Murray.
“Sinn Féin along with all members of the executive in the north has, just this week, reiterated our commitment to live up to the financial commitment to the A5 project as set out in the St. Andrew’s Agreement.
“This same week, Senator Harte’s own Fine Gael/ Labour government stated that the original commitment from the Dáil of €400m would be reduced to just 10% of that figure.
“Senator Harte is again guilty of extreme laziness in his research of politics while pursuing his anti-Sinn Féin agenda. This clumsy approach to politics was also demonstrated recently when he made the same mistake on our position to water charges.
“We will continue to drive the A5 agenda forward in both governments on this island, despite these disappointing distractions from Senator Harte.”
