There had been fears that the massive cutbacks to public spending could hit health projects throughout the country.
But the new Children’s Hospital in Dublin and the Letterkenny General extension will go ahead as planned, the Government announced in its capital projects statement
Work on the extension to Letterkenny General Hospital resumed in September
The €22m extension at the hospital will include a new emergency department and medical assessment unit. It will be completed in March.
Work on the overdue project stopped in November last year when the building firm went into receivership.
Meanwhile northern minister Sammy Wilson says the A5 is doomed. The six-county government plans to spend money set aside for the project elsewhere.
