BORD na nÓG
Underage Presentations
A Large gathering of players and parents congregated in the impressive newly refurbished clubroom’s on Sunday for the annual Bord na nOg presentations, compere and Bord Chairman Tom Clare, greeted all and
thanked the parents for encouraging their youngsters to participate in the Gaa, and asked for more to come along and get involved. He pointed out to all that special guests Ryan Bradley and Stevie Boyle were at
the pinnacle for their sporting careers and are proof that if you put the work in, what you can achieve.
The successful year the club has had this year was in evidence, with the glittering array of trophies and medals on show. The u16 footballers winning the county league deserves particular mention, as does the u14 hurlers who had an incredible year in winning county and Ulster honours. Other titles were claimed at u10 to u16 in football and hurling, to many to mention and is credit to all players and management for their hard work.
On evidence at the presentation was the growth and development of the girls football, who can now compete with some of the best side’s in the county with many now representing the county. Individual honors were:U12 Girls’ Football Chloe Grant; U12 Football Oisin Grant; U12 Hurling Dylan Duffy; U14 Girls’ Football Roisin Cloherty and Roisin Doherty; U14 Football Sam Doherty (Roe); U14 Hurling Sam Doherty(Roe); U16 Football Peter McLaughlin; U16 Hurling Donal og MacLochlainn. Congratulations to all, but the Gaa in the main is a
team sport and it takes one to fifteen to achieve results and as a club, we are already looking forward to 2012 to build on what has been a fantastic 2011.
Tom wrapped up proceedings by congratulating the ever industrious Ulster Volunteer of the Year John Porter and all the hard working mums who work tirelessly behind the scenes and once again provided refreshments. He also encouraged all parents to come along to the Bord na nOg AGM which takes place next Sunday at 5.30pm in the clubrooms. All welcome.
Buncrana Parish League for National Schools
Our parish league will finish up next Friday November 11th from 3.20pm to 4.30pm at the Scarvey. Each team will play two games on the day to determine the overall winners. There will then be a presentation where every young person from every team will receive a gift to acknowledge that they took part in the league. Parents, other family members and friends are very welcome to come along.
Unfortunately in the Cor na nOg Ulster college football competition Colaisti Inis Eoghain lost to college football kingpins Omagh CBS last Saturday in Burt on a scoreline of 5-14 to 0-07.
