Ireland (1-13-5) 50 Australia (0-7-8) 29 MICHAEL MURPHY once again showed his sheer class in a devastating Irish victory over Australia – bagging seven scores in the comprehensive win in the second and final test.
No wonder the Aussies don’t want to play this Series anymore. They are sore losers and when sore losers lose…they don’t want to play.
They were once again utterly outclassed by amateurs. (Remember Aussie Rules Football is a professional sport.)
There’s just no telling for class though – regardless of codes – and Donegal GAA county captain and Glenswilly star Michael Murphy showed the Australians what it is to have the class of a great sportsman.
The hosts led just once – at the start of the first quarter. After that Ireland were utterly dominant. Super, in fact.
The pity was that Ireland’s victory was in front of a measly crowd of 12,545. It seems the Aussie public are sore losers too.
Steven McDonnell took his career scoring total to 118 in his last match for the nation.
Murphy was yellow carded (harshly) for rough play in the 34th minute – and several other cards followed as the Aussies turned to their more violent game as tempers flared.
Thankfully the match didn’t end up in a brawl – and Ireland cruised to victory and are bringing home the Cormac McAnallen Cup.
Murphy can be proud. As can the superb Donegal team mate Neil McGee.
