BREAKING NEWS: A father of five has been killed in a freak accident in Termon.
The man, named locally as Danny Gallagher, 47, was killed when a tree fell on him just before lunch-time.
Mr Gallagher, a well-known and hugely respected employee with the ESB, was killed instantly.
It is understood Mr Gallagher was out clearing trees with his brother, also an ESB employee, when the accident happened at Doon Well.
Locals have been gathering in shock at the late Mr Gallagher’s home this afternoon.
People are openly crying outside the dead man’s home as the reality of the tragedy sinks in.
One local said Mr Gallagher was one of the nicest and obliging men in the community.
“Everyone is just in shock and walking around crying in disbelief.
“I have seen grown men crying who I never thought would ever cry.
“Danny was a rock in this community. He was quiet and unassuming but would always be there if anyone needed him.
“He was very proud of his role with the ESB and was very professional in all he did.
“He was a real family man and he lived for his wife and kids. They will be all devastated by this,” he said.
All afternoon friends and relatives have been arriving at the Gallagher family home to pass on their sympathies.
The house is close to the religious Doon Well site.
