Buncrana GAA Strictly Come Dancing
Congratulations to Pat McMyler and Emma Porter on winning Buncrana GAA’s first ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event in the Plaza on Sunday night. In a tentative start to the dances, all the couples were understandably nervous, probably due to the rousing welcome they all received by a completely packed house. Although most couples did well in their first dance, scoring accordingly, they all kept their best performances for the second set of dances. The four judges, Doreen Friel, Donall Henderson, Nicholas Crossan and Martin Mullan probably had the most difficult job of the night in trying to separate the performances of the dancers.
In a very enjoyable evening each set of dancers seemed to have been encouraged to show off their own personalities. Cathal Wilson entered the dance floor dressed as a cyclist, riding a child’s bike before immediately stripping off his cycling attire to begin his routine. Robert Callaghan entered the arena to the sound of ‘Bob the Builder’ and danced the entire routine dressed as ‘Bob the Builder,’ complete with yellow hat and builder’s belt. Garda Tom O’Connor was dressed in an orange prison-style overall and was chaperoned by Angela Cassidy dressed as a Garda. They then danced to Jailhouse Rock. Local milkman John Peter Doherty began his routine dressed as a milkman complete with crate of milk and dancing to the ‘Benny Hill’ theme tune. The crowd loved every minute of it. Credit must go to all the dancers for the professionalism with which they approached and carried out this event and for all their hard work. Credit must also go to the organising committee of Grainne McCarron, Elaine Coyle, Catrina Clare, Brian Stokes and Jacqueline Lawlor for volunteering their time to produce a very enjoyable and very professional evening. Thank you too to the judges who gave their time freely for the event. We are also indebted to the Plaza who gave their premises free of charge to facilitate the event and the weekly rehearsals, to the make-up ladies and to the public who kindly supported this event. Go raibh mile maith agaibh uilig.
Congratulations to Lee Gooch and his production company, Elizabeth O’Donnell (Dance Tutor) and Denis Kelly (Disco) for a very professional job done.
The Strictly part of the night ended with presentations to the dancers by Buncrana’s own county football star Ryan Bradley who, accompanied by the Anglo-Celt Cup, received a rapturous welcome.

Buncrana Parish League for National Schools
Day 3 of our Parish League, held at the Scarvey last Friday, produced more outstanding football from
approximately 100 boys and girls attending local primary schools. The sportsmanship displayed over
the three days has been remarkable with not a single yellow or red card required by the referees.
Day 4 will be the Finals Day and will be held at the Scarvey on Friday November 11 from 3.30pm –
4.45pm. On Finals Day all eight teams will play in knock-out competition to determine the over-
all winners. A presentation ceremony will be held where every young person from every team will
receive a gift to acknowledge that they took part in the Parish League. The club invites all family

COLAISTI INIS EOGHAIN
Unfortunately Colaiste Inis Eoghain made their exit from the Rannafast Cup in Maghera on Thursday afternoon to Abbey CBS, but can hold their heads high after five good games against first class opposition.
Bord Inis Eoghain chairperson, Gerard Callaghan expressed a huge thank you to manager Gary Duffy and his backroom team of Sean Noonan, Robert Farren, Conor O’Donnell and Liam Galbraith for their many hours of dedication to the Rannafast Cup squad since the end of July.
He also thanked the school principals and teaching staff for their terrific co-operation at all times and without whose help participation in Ulster Colleges competitions would not be possible and the players themselves over the past few months have yet again been great ambassadors for their schools, their clubs and a great credit to their families and their behaviour both on and off the field has also been impeccable.
Colaisti Inis Eoghain have yet again made many new friends who have paid glowing tributes to everyone involved with our set up and it’s fair to say we can look forward with confidence to some fine games over the next few weeks in the Corn na nOg Cup as a new batch of mentors and young players step up to the challenge of developing Inishowen football and taking it to a new level.
Next Game: Saturday 5th November in Burt @ 12.30 pm. Colaisti Inis Eoghain v Omagh CBS
Please come along and show your support!
