Monday Morning again and after the weekend of rain, I’m sure we are all glad of a bit of dryness!
I was honoured this weekend, to have two world class champion Dog sport ladies here from the UK; Dawn Weaver, World Agility champion and Multiple Crufts winner and Sarah Hursthouse, British Flyball competitor and Instructor to instruct Flyball and Agility workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
Even though the rain poured down in typical Donegal style, nothing could dampen the spirits of those participating! It was amazing to watch dogs of all different breeds, enjoying having so much fun in the two sports. Everyone learnt so much and are eager to come back for more!
Flyball is a relay sport for dogs who have a high ball drive and also love to have fun! Agility is a sport for dogs which can go through equipment such as tyres and tunnels and over obstacles such as jumps and A-Frames.
The reason I am encouraging these sports is that there are limited places to go with our dogs these days and by providing the dogs with a sport which gives them mental stimulation, can leave the dogs wholly satisfied and can help towards being less aggressive, destructive and hard work.
We have now got a good lot of members for the agility and flyball clubs but if you fancy a go with your dog, NO breed is turned away. You are welcome to come to a session to try it out!!
