They require advice and support on diagnosis and the treatment involved. Providing support and information will lead to a better quality of life through good management of their condition. The meeting is a chance to meet others who are going through similar experiences.”
There are an estimated 15,000 people in Ireland with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD); you can get the disease at any age but most people are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 30. IBD affects men and women equally. There is no known cause of IBD but viruses, genetics and smoking can lead to changes in the immune system that may cause the disease.
There are approximately 250 people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease being treated at Letterkenny GeneralHospital.
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease annual information evening is free of charge and starts at 7pm on Tuesday 25 October in the Radisson Hotel in Letterkenny. All are welcome!
