Gardai have warned motorists not to leave keys in their cars after a suspect escaped on foot after a high-speed chase yesterday.
It is believed the suspect had been under surveillance in Letterkenny when Gardai decided to question him about a a drugs-related incident.
However the man fled at high speed in the direction of Glenswilly before abandoning his car at Breenagh.
The man then fled on foot through nearby fields and was pursued by a number of Gardai.
A number of locals also turned out to search for the suspect in fields, sheds and outhouses.
However as of last night the suspect had not been located.
Gardai then warned local people not to leave car keys in vehicles parked close to their homes.
A source said: “We feel this guy could go to any lengths to avoid being caught.
“We would ask people not to leave keys in cars because they are only inviting this suspect to take their vehicle.
“We want to question him about a number of incidents in the Letterkenny area.
“We would ask people who may have witnessed anybody acting suspiciously in the Glenswilly area on Sunday afternoon to contact us as soon as possible,” he said.
