FLOODY HELL! DOWNPOURS BRING TAILBACKS AND DANGEROUS ROADS

Towns across the county were left under water today as heavy rain left many places flooded.

Continuous rain overnight and further downpours throughout the day left many roads dangerous.

Fields have also been left heavily flooded and many farmers have been forced to move animals to safer ground.

Gardai were called out to many flooded roads in Inishowen, Donegal Town, Ballyshannon and Letterkenny.

In Letterkenny Gardai were called out to the Dry Arch Roundabout after flash flooding caused huge tailbacks in and out of the town.

Gardai have also warned people to be extra careful with more heavy rain forecast for the rest of the week.

“There has been a lot of rain in the past 24 hours and this has caused several flash floods locally around the county.

“The forecast is for a lot more rain so we are expecting more floods.

“We are asking people to slow down and not to drive quickly through water left on the surface of roads.

“Also we are appealing to people to slow down when driving on secondary roads and you never know what it around the corner,” said a spokesman.
