DONEGAL set a new record last week – with more rain falling in a single day than anywhere else in the country.
The weather station at Finner Camp saw an incredible 42mm of rain last Monday.
That was half of the rainfall for the entire week.
Donegal hit the two of the top three rainfall spots for last week, according to data released by irishweatheronline.com.
Just over 80mm of rain was recorded at Finner, with Malin Head recording almost 58mm of rain.
And there’s more rain on the way for today, Monday, and the rest of the week.
A cold front from the Atlantic has started bringing colder weather to the county with a forecast for extremely heavy downpours throughout today and tonight, with a warning of possible floods in vulnerable areas.
Here’s the Monday irishweather forecast: Windy with squally showers, some with hail and thunder, and risk of snow on higher terrain in north counties. Stormy at times in Mayo, Donegal and other parts of northwest. Winds generally WSW 35-55 mph but 45-70 mph at times in northwest. Highs near 10 C north to 13 C south. Rainfalls about 5-10 mms.
