DONEGAL supporters of Dana Rosemary Scallon in her bid to win the Presidency are in utter shock today – after she wept through the RTE Prime Time debate last night.
In a shock development, she told Miriam O’Callaghan that allegations against her would be made in today’s newspapers.
But nothing appeared in the first editions review on Vincent Browne’s TV show.
And there was nothing on any website.
In a strange intervention during the RTE debate, Dana said: “It has come to my attention that yet further allegations, this time of a most untrue, malicious and vile nature, have been levelled against a member of my family.”
Reading from a prepared statement given to her by her spin-doctors – and shaking as she read it – she went on: “Let it be known that lawyers have already been instructed to forensically investigate a particular communication disseminating this vile and false accusation, which attempts to implicate me and destroy my good character.
“We have now been advised that all possible lines of enquiry are being pursued with prosecution authorities in the United States.
“May I assure the Irish people that I will leave no stone unturned to expose the malicious intent at the heart of these untrue allegations.”
Presenter Miriam O’Callaghan challenged on the statement, saying she just couldn’t say that without elaborating on it, but Dana refused to do so.
Last night one supporter of Dana in Donegal emailed us to say: “I’m voting for her and stand by her. Clearly the media has a problem with someone who stands up for Jesus.”
