Presidential hopeful Sean Gallagher has received a tremendous response on his tour of Donegal.
The well-known Dragon’s Den star, whose father Dan came from Killygordan, took in almost the entire county yesterday from Bundoran to Culdaff yesterday.
In between he kissed babies, attended a mart, and even had his blood pressure taken at Letterkenny Shopping Centre.
Mr Gallagher said he has been heartened by his placings in the polls which give him 21% of the vote and put him in second place behind Michael D Higgins.
He was forced to deny newspaper claims that he only left Fianna Fail eight months ago despite claiming he left two years ago.
But Mr Gallagher told Donegaldaily.com that he would take voters from Labour, Fianna Fail, Fine Gael or Sin Fein supporters.
“I would take votes form anywhere. Of course I want to get votes from Fianna Fail and Fine Gael and Labour and Sinn Fein. My message is not party political.
“I have stated from the outset that this is not about party politics. This is not about who wins the Presidential election for a political party.
“This is about the Presidency and we need to be very clear it should remain above party politics,” he said.
He said he was thoroughly enjoying his time in Donegal where he said he spent many summers.
“I remember many a night in the Butt Hall in Ballybofey an fish and chips afterwards.
“I know a lot of people from Donegal and I have many happy memories from here,” he said
After touting the county, Mr Gallagher was the special guest of the Letterkenny Rugby Club Dinner Dance.
