Council worth its salt
Donegal County Council has confirmed it now has FIVE times the normal amount of salt for use across the county this winter. There will now be 18,351 tonnes of salt available which will be spread by a total of 24 salters with snow ploughs.
Woman arrested
Gardai in Letterkenny have confirmed they arrested a woman following a fire which gutted a dwelling at the Burnside Apartments on Wednesday afternoon.
Lights an actions
New traffic lights are to be erected at one of Donegal’s most dangerous junctions at McClay’s Corner in Stranorlar. The lights, which are expected to cost €100,000 should be ready and installed before Christmas.
Solicitor wins award
A trainee solicitor from Donegal has won a top award from the Law Society for her outstanding achievements in her final exams. Gilliam McGough from Letterkenny won the 2011 Thompson Round Hall Award for Advanced Civil Litigation.
