DONEGAL Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn is to lead a delegation to meet senior Gardai in the county to express concerns over proposed closures of more than 20 garda stations.
The proposals were first revealed by donegaldaily.com 11 days ago. Five days later the Tir Chonaill Tribune named the stations involved.
In the Dail today, Deputy MacLochlainn challenged Justice Minister Alan Shatter to ‘come clean’ on the proposed cuts.
“I am very concerned that he failed to give a commitment that no Garda station will be closed in Donegal when I twice asked him to do so,” said the Sinn Fein TD.
“I will now be meeting with the Chief Supt Terri McGinn this week to put the concerns of communities and community organisations across Donegal directly to her.”
