Donegal GAA is in shock following the shock and sudden death of the man who helped lead Naomh Conaill to their recent Senior Championship success.
Glenties and many other GAA strongholds are still coming to terms with the passing of Kieran McGurk, the man who assisted Cathal Corey at the helm of the club’s senior footballers.
Mr McGurk, 49, died suddenly after taking ill at his home in Kildress in Co Tyrone.
Having played for Armagh, he is survived by his wife Geraldine and the couple’s two children.
A spokesman for Naomh Conaill said everyone at the club was numb with the sad news of Mr McGurk’s untimely passing.
“People at the club who got to know Kieran very well in recent years are just devastated by his passing.
“He did a lot of work for this club and he was as proud as any other local person when we won the championship.
“He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his family,” he said.
