MEP Pat The Cope Gallagher says he has no plans to pull out of a €120,000 ‘junket’ to the Seychelles.
The veteran Donegal politician is one of seven Euro politicians heading off on the fisheries mission to the sun-kissed region.
They will be accompanied by ten interpreters, administrators and secretaries.
The politicians will be wined and dined and will also be allowed free time to visit local beaches and beauty spots.
The trip is planned for November when temperatures in the region hit a very pleasant 27 degrees.
But last night Mr Gallagher said the mission was very important to future fisheries policy.
“If I decided not to go, I would be replaced by someone else,” he said.
A source said the trip was proving much more popular choice of destination than many other fact-finding places visited in the past.
However an EU spokesman said “This is a working trip, not a holiday.”
