Two rugby fans from Donegal have packed in their jobs in a kangaroo meat factory to follow the Irish rugby team around New Zealand in a clapped out van.
Brothers Daniel and Kevin O’Connor and their cousin Daniel McLaughlin threw caution to the wind have even painted the van in the Irish colours.
Daniel, from Letterkenny, says they are having the times of their lives following Brian O’Driscoll and the lads.
“We are having a blast. You only live once. We bought the van and we decided to paint in all over with a tri-colour. We’re now putting on the scores as we go along.
“Everyone is asking us to stop and have their picture taken with us. It’s great craic,” he said.
Daniel and cousin Kevin were working in Brisbane in Australia but decided to join the other Daniel in New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup.
They originally only planned to come to New Zealand for the weekend but are now planning on staying until Ireland are knocked out!
“The lads were working in a meat processing factory which specialized in kangaroo meat.
“But they just decided to take some time out and I don’t think they going back. There’ll always be another kangaroo.
“We could be here for a long time yet the way the lads are playing so well,” laughed Daniel.
The boys even ran into some of the Irish players including Gordan Darcy and Geordan Murphy and they even signed the van for them!
“The lads were all sound and thought we were a bit mad but they appreciated that we were following them.
“They have even started to tweet us now which is great fun,” added Daniel.
The lads are asking people to take pictures of the van and post them to them on Facebook so they can record their Rugby World Cup journey.
