Creeslough has been given a welcome boost with funding of €372,392 for the upgrading of its Main Street.
The cash injection has been approved by the Donegal Local Development Company to Creeslough’s Tidy Town’s Committee.
The funding has been welcomed by Senator Brian O’Domhnaill.
“I have been lobbying the Department and the Minister to make sure the approval was given as quickly as possible so that the work can be carried out without further delay.”
“This funding was approved under the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) by Donegal Local Development Company in July and is co-financed by the European Union at a rate of 55%.”
“This funding is in addition to funding of €560,000 approved by the National Roads Authority which brings the total allocation available to the Creeslough Tidy Towns Committee to €932,392,” he said.
The tender process for the project has been completed and a contractor has been selected but not yet appointed.
“I understand that the Contractor will be appointed in the next fortnight the Contractor will then officially sign the contract and work is due to commence at the end of October.
“This is a crucially important and carefully planned project and I wish to take this opportunity in commending the Creeslough Tidy Towns Committee, Donegal County Council, National Road Authority and DLDC with their commitment and funding towards this project,” added Seantor O’Domhnaill.
