Donegal League Final
The first leg of the 2011 Donegal League final was staged at Rosapenna golf course on Sunday last .Contesting the 2011 final was Portsalon golf club and Rosapenna Golf Club with Rosapenna hosting the first leg match. Portsalon golf club competing in their first Donegal League final for some years was under the stewardship of John Logue who over the past few weeks had various selection problems. Playing in stormy weather conditions the golf produced by sets of players was of a very high standard with many of the matches going to the final holes to decide the outcome. The overall result saw the home team Rosapenna emerge winners by four matches to one and has a slender ten holes advantage. The return leg is fixed for Sunday 2nd October at Portsalon golf course with a 12 o’clock tee off. The Portsalon team on the day was John Shields & Pascal Cullen, Stephen Connolly & Phillip Durning, John Logue & Cathal Toland, Chuck Mc Taggart & Patrick Crerand, Tony Kingston & Shaun Shields. No doubt team captain John Logue will have to ponder his team selection in order to overturn this result.
