Under 12 Hurling – County Final Winners!
Our u12 hurlers completed a great season in fine style with a convincing win over St Eunans in the u12 county final. The game was played in ideal conditions, which suited the skillful Scarvey boys. From the throw in they were on top and gave an exhibition of hurling.
Both teams gave their all, early first half goals from Oisin Grant, added to by points, from the influential Dylan Duffy, Paul Tourish and Niall Doherty also added to the tally. The dead ball accuracy of PJ McCarron was also impressive but it was the introduction of Ben Doherty (roe) into the back line that tightened the boys grip on the trophy. The halftime score was 3:4 to 0:2. A burst of early impressive second half points from Dylan Duffy and Matthew Wilson insured the title was being retained by the Buncrana club, the final score was
6.10 to 0:3. The accurate puck out’s from Jason Campbell were the launch pad for many scores, in defence Oisin Hegarty, Fiachra MacLochlainn, PJ McCarron, John Vaughan and Ben Doherty stamped out any
Letterkenny attacks. In midfield Oisin Grant and Paul Tourish along with the youthful hardworking Niall Doherty impressed. Upfront Dylan Duffy was on fire and well supported by Matthew Wilson and Arran Craig. All the subs Mark Craig, Ryan Hegarty, Gavin Kelly, Darren Connolly, Oisin Mc Daid, Cathal Óg Wilson, and Liam Doherty added to what was an impressive win and performance with Gavin Kellys goal being the pick
of second half scores. The cup was presented by Clubman and County hurling Chairman Donal MacLochlainn to captain Dylan Duffy. Thanks to the St Eunans club for a hard sporting game and to all the supporters
who came down and roared both sides on, and to all the hard working mothers who provided much needed refreshments for all.
Congratulation’s to club stalwart Gary Duffy who wed long time sweetheart Caroline Greenan in Monaghan at the weekend, the only sour note from the wedding was the ill timed injury to budding ladies senior footballer Dorothy Stoke’s, who sustained a freak Achilles injury during her performance of the Cha, Cha Cha, apparently in a vein last ditch attempt to make the “Strictly Come Dancing “line up.
