A Glenties woman is putting her shirt on Jim McGuinness leading Donegal to All-Ireland success.
Denise Boyle has designed her own t-shirts in honour of the Donegal manager and neighbour and she’s hoping they can bring the team some luck in their search for Sam Maguire.
Denise, a daughter of Highlands Hotel owner Johnny Boyle, got the idea from a friend and decided just to go for it.
She decided that local hero Jim used to look like legendary rebel Chez Guevara with his famous goatee beard and decided to use the iconic image on her t-shirts.
“Jim and the team have done so well and we are very proud of them all.
“Myself and a friend were chatting about it and I just decided to do up an image for the t-shirts and then have them made.
“It’s not a profit thing because I’m not interested in making money out of it. But they’re available in the hotel and they are going down really well.
‘They’re not as fancy as the official Donegal jersey but people can wear them in the run-up to the big game,” she said.
Denise has designed a mural for outside the family’s famous hotel but insists she is not an accomplished artist like her dad.
“I just sketched the mural from a photo and added the hat but people really seem to like it,” she added.
And she hopes that plenty more people will take the shirts off their back and follow Jim when Donegal beat Dublin and make it to the final!
