Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 15.08.11
Well done to the Reserve Footballers that advanced to the semi-finals of the Senior Reserve Championship with a good win over Naomh Conaill on Sunday evening in Glenswilly. The lads got first half goals through the impressive Eddie Blake and John Keeney to take a commanding half time lead in what had been aclose, tense affair until then. Caolan Flood added another goal in the 2nd half to seal a 3-05 to 0-08 victory.
The Juniors finally got a game under their belt as they took on St. Michael’s in a friendly. Thanks to St. Michael’s for travelling up for the game. They still await the outcome of the Downings no-show for their preliminary round play-off.
The Seniors had a free weekend. They may have a league game this weekend in preparation for their Championship replay.
The Minor Boys Footballers begin their Championship campaign this Friday evening with an away game to Milford in their 1st round, 1st leg game. Throw in is at 7pm. They will hope to make it a unique double for the club after the Minor hurlers claimed the Championship title a few weeks ago.
The U-14 Div. 1 boys advanced to the northern Board Championship Final after a hard fought win away to Gaoth Dobhair in last week’s semi-final. They will take on St. Mary’s, Convoy in the Final at a date to be arranged.
The U-14 Div. 2 boys travel to Milford on Wednesday for their shield semi-final at 7pm.
The U-15 and U-13 Football also gets underway over the next few weeks.
The Sunday morning U-10 Football Academy returned last week and is on again this week at the usual time of 11am. It may well be cancelled on Sunday the 28th due to Donegal’s involvement in the All-Ireland SFC semi-final v Dublin.
The U12 Hurlers came back in dramatic fashion to equalise against Burt with a goal right at the end after earlier throwing away a 7 point lead. The U16 Hurlers are awaiting details of their next game. There is a 3 day high performance session for all county U14, U15 & U16 Hurling players in Burt starting Wednesday at 10am. St Eunan’s hurling players selected for these county panels need to attend.
The U14 Ulster Camogie Blitz took place in Carndonagh on Saturday, 13th August with the County Camogie team beating Cavan and losing narrowly to Derry and Antrim. Well done to the St Eunan’s girls who represented the county. Camogie fixtures for August include the 19th for the U12’s in Ballybofey and finally the 26th for the U12’s in Burt. The camogie referee course for adults & young whistlers has been postponed. If you wish to attend the course please contact Gavin Craig. U-16 & Minor training is on each Monday at 5:30pm. U-12/13 Hurling training is on Tuesday at 5:30pm. The Friday Hurling & Camogie Academy begins at 6:30pm on Friday in O’Donnell Park.
There is a major Fundraising Table Quiz in the Clubhouse this Friday night in support of the Donegal Co. team training fund. It will involve clubs from all around the county and be broadcast on Highland Radio. Anyone wanting to volunteer to help on the night or take part, should contact Charlie McAteer asap on 087-2668633.
There were 3 winners of this week’s lotto that matched 3 numbers and win €35 each. The numbers drawn were 3-6-7-17 and the winners are: Valerie Doherty, Aughlihard (Adrian), Eddie Brennan, Crievesmith and Edmund Cassidy, Ballyraine Rd. (both card). Next week’s jackpot is €1,200.
