Ballyshannon Gardai are today hunting brass-necked burglars after they raided two homes in the same area – making off with a gun.
The houses were raided in the Carraig west area of Laghey shortly after 1PM on Saturday afternoon.
Forced entry was used to gain entry to the houses. A substantial quantity of jewellery and cash was taken during one of the raids while an air rifle and a small amount of cash was stolen during a separate burglary.
Gardai are appealing to anyone with information or who noticed anything suspicious in the Laghey area on Saturday afternoon to contact them at Ballyshannon Garda Station.
Sources say detectives are particularly concerned that such a persistent gang of thieves are now armed.
