PAUL McGOVERN’S ST EUNAN’S NOTES: Bookings for the Hurling & Camogie Camp must be completed by this Sunday, July 3rd to guarantee personalisation of the sweatshirt in the Giveaway pack (next week, Sunday July 10th for Football).
Anne Forde will be on hand to take bookings in my absence this week both on Friday and Sunday and her contact details are also listed below in the Notes.
It is essential to book early for the camps to ensure we can prepare properly and also have the required Adult / Child ratios so if you are thinking of booking, please do so immediately. Time will tell if the Championship games go ahead this week.
It looks like the Junior game will definitely be on either way despite our request not to play it as our manager has just jetted off to America on holiday.
Especially frustrating as the 1st leg was played 6 weeks ago this Sunday and we had requested this game played over the last 5 weeks due to Andrew’s impending holiday and finally it gets set this week when he’s gone!!
If these games go ahead, please come out and support all the teams as with so many players away from all teams the people supporting the players could have a huge role to play to help them progress to the next round of the Championships.
Best of luck to the large contingent of players and supporters heading for Cork tomorrow for this year’s Feile. Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 27.06.11 Good luck to Ciaran Maguire and the U-14 boys Footballers that will to travel to Feile in Cork this week.
The lads will take on Blarney, Thomas Russell’s, St. Martin’s and hosts Whitechurch. Last year’s team narrowly lost their final so hopefully the lads can go one better this year. The Seniors, Reserves and Juniors are all in Championship action this weekend though it remains to be seen if the Senior matches will go ahead with Donegal’s involvement in the Ulster SFC Final on July 17th in Clones.
The Seniors and Reserves are down for Saturday evening against Dungloe with the Junior game on Sunday versus Downings. Congratulations to Rory and Kevin on their part in Donegal’s great victory over Tyrone at the weekend. They now have an Ulster Final to look forward to.
The Senior Hurlers had a good win against Four Masters in their Round Robin Championship match last week. Well done to all the lads that represented Donegal so well in Clones in the U-21 Hurling Shield Final on Sunday.
The Minor boys footballers finally return to action this week with two matches, both of which are at home. First up on Wednesday evening is a game against Cloughaneely and that is followed on Friday with a match against Milford.
These are must win games if the lads are to progress to the latter stages of the League. The U-21’s have been paired with holders Naomh Conaill in the Preliminary round at home. The game is due to take place on Wednesday, July 13th. It’s a pity to play such an important competition when so many players are forced to foreign shores to find work for the summer as they go through college.
The U-16’s began their Championship campaign at home to neighbours Termon on Monday evening. They had a convincing victory and will face MacCumhaills away in the next round next Monday (July 4th). The U-14 Div. 2 Boys footballers will travel to Downings this Wednesday for their next league game.
The U-12 boys finished their league section with a 100% record after defeating neighbours Glenswilly comfortably on Friday evening and then the Gaels by 4-16 to 3-3 out at the Glebe on Monday. They will take on MacCumhaills in the final next Monday evening.
The U-11 boys beat Glenfin in their final game by 6-09 to 5-03. They only lost 1 game in their section despite their whole team being underage again next year.
They may well have a final against Gaoth Dobhair next week too.Our Summer Camps are now available for booking. We have Hurling & Camogie on July 18th – 22nd and Football on July 25th – 29th. Contact Anne Forde this week for bookings on 086-8342449.
She will also be at the Friday and Sunday Academies to take bookings. Bookings need to be done this week for Hurling camp giveaway personalisation and next week for football. Cúl Camps are also back this year and they are on July 4th – 8th. Michael McGrath is co-ordinator and you can get him on 086-3717409.
The girls U-12s travelled to Milford on Sunday for a blitz involving the hosts, Fanad and Glenswilly. St Eunan’s fielded two great teams and both sides played extremely well. The club wants to thank everyone at Milford for their organisation and hospitality on the day.
The Sunday Morning U-10 Football Academy returns to its normal time of 11am this week. Tickets are on sale for our Club Development Draw that is being co-ordinated by Brian Kelly. If anyone wants to return tickets and money or help out, drop into Brian at the Washing Well or call him on 086-4188389. There was 3 winners in this week’s Lotto draw. The numbers drawn were: 9-13-16-18 and this week’s winners are: Marjorie Morrison, Glebe Crescent; James Doherty (Buses) Churchill (both cards) and Noel O’Donnell, College Rd. (Adrian).
