WEATHER forecasters are predicting a groundfrost in many inland areas of Co Donegal overnight…followed by hail storms, thunderstorms and rain on Friday evening.
And in the past hour, the BBC has reported snow in Comber in Co Down!
Temperatures in Donegal will drop to 2C overnight.
And while the morning will be dry and sunny, BBC, UTV and RTE are all forecasting torrential downpours across the county in the late afternoon and evening – with thunder, hail and possibly lightening thrown in!
The crazy weather patterns are throwing up all sorts of weather; two days ago the roof was ripped off a barn near Eglinton in Co Derry by a tornado.
The BBC is reporting a relatively dry but cloudy weekend for the county – whilst RTE are predicting heavy showers, saying Sunday will be particularly bad. Time will tell who is right.
Both channel forecasters tonight are predicting better weather from next Tuesday onwards with less cloud and more sunshine and temperatures of 15C or 16C.
Irish Weather Online forecaster Peter O’Donnell is being more optimistic.
He has reported in the past few minutes: “Monday will be cool and showery, but the rest of the week may bring some improving weather with the average high likely to be 17 to 19 C.”
