The Earagail Arts Festival has had its first ever international launch – in the political capital of Europe.
Fianna Fail MEP Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallager, Clannad’s Máire Ní Bhraonáin and county councillor Patrick McGowan helped get the July festival launched in Brussels.
The contemporary and traditional arts festival is 23 years old this year.
Ms Ni Braonain, who performed at the opening staged in the European Parliament, said she was a long supporter of the festival but hoped this year it would attract a wider audience.
She added that she hoped it would also assist Donegal entrepreneurs to network and form local businesses which would be the key to future growth.
MEP Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher said Donegal needed a boost and the Earagail festival was fantastic resource for local people.
Details of the festival will be launched over the coming days.
It is backed by the Arts Council, Fáilte Ireland, Donegal County Council and the EU’s Committee of the Regions.
